A musician has been slapped with several criminal charges, including the killing of two men on Albert Street in the Kingston 14 area on Friday, September 4.

The accused, 28-year-old Leon Williams of Water Street, Denham Town, West Kingston, was charged on Friday of last week with the murders of 52-year-old Desmond Chambers and 35-year-old Delroy Small, both of Albert Street, Kingston 14.

He was also charged with wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition stemming from the gun attack that resulted in the two deaths.

It is alleged that Williams and another man opened gunfire at a group of people who stood alongside the roadway, and fired at a police team that responded to the initial attack.

No member of the police team was injured, but three men who were shot in the initial attack were taken to hospital, where Chambers and Small later died.

Williams was subsequently arrested and charged following an interview in the presence of his attorney.

The police indicated that the second suspect behind the fatal attack remains at large.
