Police are now combing over surveillance video of the brazen daylight shooting of five persons, including reputed gangster Kevin ‘Richie Pooh’ Tyndale, along Old Hope Road in St Andrew on Wednesday.
The minute and a half long video, which has been obtained by Loop News, shows a taxi stopping at a business establishment.
But, as the passengers of the taxi begin to exit the vehicle, they are attacked by men travelling on a motorbike, the pillion rider of which opens gunfire on the group. All the occupants of the taxi run for cover as the gunman appears to fire at them indiscriminately before escaping with his crony on the motorcycle.
Police report that at least one man was killed in the shooting. Tyndale is reportedly in critical condition in hospital.
Tyndale was once known as a reputed gangster of the Gideon Warriors gang based in August Town. In 2005, he was sentenced to a total of 90 years in prison after he was convicted on gun-related, wounding and robbery charges. The sentences handed down on the three counts were set to run concurrently.
However, he was shockingly given parole in 2018, triggering a directive from the National Security Council (NSC) for a comprehensive review of the parole process.
