Detectives attached to the Barnett Street police station in Montego Bay, St James, are now in search of a man who carried out a robbery at a popular Montego Bay law firm and raped the receptionist.
The police are now investigating the $175,000 heist incident, while a team of detectives from CISOCA Branch are investigating the rape.
Reports by the Barnett Street police are that shortly after 1:00 p.m., on Friday, the receptionist was inside the office of the law firm located on Barnett Street, in Montego Bay, when the man who was posing as a client, walked in and informed her that he wanted to retain the services of a lawyer.
After discussing the legal fees with the receptionist, the man indicated that he wanted to pay some money. While she was in the process of writing a receipt, he brandished a knife and held it to her throat.
He then used the knife to cut the woman to a section of her neck and hand, before pulling her into an adjoining office, where he cut off her clothes, and raped her.
The lone robber then ransacked the office and robbed the establishment of cash amounting to over $170,000.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, the scene was processed, and a search carried out for the culprit, which proved futile.
