The Inspectorate of Constabulary (IOC) has launched an investigation into an incident, which was captured on video, showing police officers detaining a female motorcyclist on the Mandela Highway on August 17.
The IOC is reporting that several statements have already been collected and the investigation is being done with alacrity. More information will be made available as the investigation progresses, the IOC stated in a release.
In a two minute video, that has gone viral on social media, two men, said to be police officers in plain clothes, are seen standing over the female while she is laying on the ground. See amatuer video below.
A woman is heard accusing the officers of acting in an unprofessional manner.
“Why you treating the woman like that, look how you a treat the woman,” said the female onlooker, who then goes on to accuse one of the police men of knocking the female from her motorcycle.
The officers are later seen placing a handcuff on the woman who appears to be in an unconscious state.
